BMRZ
Biomolekulares Magnetresonanz Zentrum der Universität Frankfurt
Center for Biomolecular Magnetic Resonance of the University of Frankfurt
The Biomolecular Magnetic Resonance Center of the University of Frankfurt is an internationally recognized center for magnetic resonance spectroscopy that is equipped with 10 high-field liquid-state NMR spectrometers, 3 high-field solid-state NMR spectrometers, 4 EPR spectrometers, and a Linux compute cluster. The groups of Profs. Dötsch, Glaubitz, Güntert, Prisner, Schwalbe and Wöhnert work in the field of NMR and EPR-spectroscopy in the solid and liquid state. BMRZ is integrated in the international research community and serves as one of the European Large Scale Facilities for Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (Bio-NMR).
The phenomenon of magnetic resonance forms the basis of spectroscopic and imaging methods in chemical analytics, in the life sciences (drug discovery, structural biology, biophysics), biomedicine and medical diagnostics. The Center for Biomolecular Magnetic Resonance (BMRZ) bundles all research activities at the Goethe-University, which focus on magnetic resonance spectroscopy on molecular systems (structural biology, chemical biology, membrane proteins, RNA, macromolecular complexes). The BMRZ as research and infrastructure center is one of three European NMR large-scale facilities and one of the international figureheads of the Goethe-University. It is the only university center of its kind in Germany. Close collaborations with industrial partners have been established in addition to the participation in numerous research networks.
